Learning doesn’t do much if we don’t use what we learned to create change in the world around us. Effective eLearning requires the learner to not "pass" a course, but instead reflect on what they learned.
Reflection leads to changed behavior, and though eLearning solutions cannot solve every problem, authentic learning can lead to actionable change and growth.
With this belief in mind and using all that I've learned in my last organization and through intensive upskilling, I am now looking for opportunities as an instructional designer and eLearning developer to help solve your organization's problems and improve the lives of every employee with training that prioritizes the learner.
Powerful stories are a major part of my life, so much so that I got a M.A. in Creative Writing and wrote a screenplay for my master's thesis. I love all kinds of storytelling experiences, especially videogames. I remember being in my college dorm room, closeted and alone, desperate for stories that included LGBTQ characters. I'll never forget what it was like to play The Last of Us and the Left Behind DLC on the PS3 in 2014 and seeing an openly queer character like Ellie be true to herself. Stories have always been there for me.
In my personal life, I am an advocate for marginalized communities and stand firm in what I believe in: all people deserve the opportunity to engage in authentic learning that is relevant to them. This perception guides me as a person and also as an instructional designer.
I’m a proud lesbian who adores my wife, my friends and family, and my two dogs and two cats: Captain Hook, Wendy (adopted elderly toy-poodle), Earl Grey (she came with the marriage), and Arthur "Squishie" Morgan (our adopted son). I have about 20 tattoos and counting; I treat the art on my body as pieces of my own story. I also love watching Drag Race and Master Chef with my wife; going on cruises and traveling; watching the movie Jennifer’s Body every Halloween; injecting Dr. Pepper (we Okies love our Dr. Pepper) into my veins; and listening and watching and experiencing the magic that is Chappell Roan.
